Simultaneous Translation is the act of orally translating the speech of a speaker into the language of one or more listeners at the same time. It can make use of technological resources, such as individual headphones, radio transmitter and receiver, microphone and booth for the translator, among others.
It aims to give people who speak different languages the possibility to participate in lectures, seminars, meetings, debates, courses, conferences, online or on-site events, etc. This communication is only possible through professional interpreters fluent in their working languages and trained in translation, interpretation and communication techniques.
In consecutive translation, differently from simultaneous translation, the interpreter speaks after the speaker once the latter finishes a sentence, aiming at a free and dynamic performance by the speaker and a better understanding and participation by the listeners.
